Ski tour participation requirements: Be on time and don’t be a flake

By signing up for an event with this group you are taking on a minimal but not unimportant set of obligations towards others.

You should make it a priority to be on time, which includes being ready to ski within a reasonable amount of time. This is out of consideration towards the other participants. Moreover it isn’t something that is hard for an adult to do. Also note that at many meeting places cell phone reception can be poor-to-nonexistent -- don't assume you can contact someone. If you’re late we really don't want to wait around for you with our limited free time when we could be skiing.

If you find you are routinely late to things, and annoying other people as a result -- after all, you're communicating that you don't really care that they have to wait around for you because you don't have your shit together -- then I will let you in on the Secret of Punctuality! the Magickal Technique you can always use!

LEAVE EARLIER.

Sign up for an event only if you have decided that you will be going. If something comes up and you can't make it, then change your attendance status immediately -- don't just not show up. Again, this is out of consideration towards the other participants, who don't want to stand around in the cold wondering where you are.

Related to this, please don’t sign up with the idea that you’ll decide whether or not you’re coming the morning of the event. Here’s a message from the crystal ball: you’re not going to come. But the other participants will be expecting you there nonetheless, and will very likely not be able to receive the update that you changed your mind at the very last minute (see the note on cell reception above) -- which is effectively the same as not showing up.
